02 About the forge
LucidForge is a husband-and-wife design and development studio with more than 30 years of experience each working with computers, design and the internet.
We've watched the web grow up because, frankly, we grew up with it.
Between us, our experience spans graphic design, photography, branding, websites, programming, databases, hosting and the countless technologies that have appeared, disappeared and occasionally exploded along the way.
We're deliberately small. There are no account managers, sales departments or layers of people between you and the people actually doing the work.
You talk to us.
We build your project.
03 What we do
Web design, visual identities, logos, graphics and digital artwork created around your business rather than squeezed into somebody else's template.
Web Design · UI/UX · Branding · Logos · Graphics
Purpose-built websites, written for the job they actually need to do. From straightforward, lightweight static websites to dynamic, self-editable and manageable database-driven websites.
Websites · Dynamic Sites · PHP · JavaScript · MySQL · Databases
Reliable hosting without making you learn the vocabulary of a server administrator. We can build it, deploy it, host it and keep it running.
Web Hosting · Domains · Email · SSL · Deployment
Websites aren't fire-and-forget missiles. We provide ongoing maintenance, updates, development and good old-fashioned human help.
Maintenance · Updates · Development · Technical Support
04 Our approach
Every LucidForge project starts with a problem to solve, not a predetermined piece of software.
We use whatever tools are right for the job.
Sometimes that's a pencil and a sheet of paper. Sometimes it's decades of design and programming experience. Sometimes it's professional creative software, photography, code libraries, automation or artificial intelligence.
Usually, it's a combination of them.
05 Purpose built
We don't build websites with WordPress or other general-purpose Content Management Systems.
Not because they're inherently bad. They're simply not what we do.
Platforms such as Squarespace and Wix already do an excellent job for people who want to assemble a website themselves using templates and pre-built components.
LucidForge is for when you want something built.
We design and develop purpose-made websites and web applications around what your project actually needs, without starting with a CMS and working backwards.
Just the website you need and the code required to make it work.
06 Why LucidForge
Experience that predates social media, smartphones and quite a few technologies we'd rather forget.
The people you talk to are the people designing and building your project.
We start with what you need, not with a template.
Modern tools combined with decades of human experience.
Visual thinking and technical thinking under the same roof.
Design, development, deployment and hosting without passing your project around.
07 Proven and current
We've been doing this long enough to remember when websites were measured in kilobytes.
That doesn't mean we believe the old ways were better. Technology changes. Tools change. The web changes.
Good ideas, thoughtful design and solid workmanship don't.
LucidForge combines decades of experience with the best tools available today to create digital work that is useful, distinctive and built to last.
We aren't interested in doing things the old way simply because they're familiar. And we aren't interested in doing things the new way simply because they're new.
We use the right tool for the job.
08 Co-op mode
We're designers.
Developers.
Internet veterans.
We're also gamers.
Perhaps that's why we still approach projects the way we do: explore the problem, understand the rules, find the tools, build something, test it, improve it and occasionally wonder why something perfectly functional stopped working at 2am.
